I have been looking forward to blogging this wedding ever since Alicia & James contacted me from their home in New Zealand to ask if I would be their wedding photographer. They had been following my blog via Facebook for sometime, so had already decided they wanted me to document their day – provided I was available. I love to photograph an international wedding (or few) every year if at all possible and their wedding plans really whet my “destination wedding appetite”, how could I say no – especially when my wife so keenly volunteered to be the official ‘bag carrier’?!
The stunning Rocca d’Ajello, near Camerino, Italy is a beautiful ancient fortress dating back to the 13th Century. It is privately owned and I have never met more charming hosts as Elisabetta and Benny. It was a truly fantastic day and I loved every minute of it.
This morning the below landed on our doorstep and it really made me smile – thanks guys! A thank you card featuring lots of my images from their day.
“Dear Ed & Jo,
Just a short note to thank you for the lovely photos you took of our wedding day in Italy. We have been enjoying looking through them again & again, reliving the memories as we do so. We decided to share some of our favourite parts of the day in this card and were really pleased to have so many options to choose from.
We seem to have found ourselves firmly back in normality and the wedding seems so far away – especially after all the hard work that went into it. We really appreciate the fact that we were surrounded by so many friends and family who were able to help us celebrate our happy day. Just as importantly, we feel very lucky that you could come along and capture those moments for us. I fear that one day memories may fade, but we will have some awesome images to help remind us of the day.
We were also amazed by the warmth of the welcome we got from Elisabetta & Benny and all of their staff. From our perspective, they made us feel like family and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I hope that you felt the same – we certainly didn’t notice any issues and we put that down partly to them, but also to your professionalism and style.
Thank you again Ed, we are genuinely grateful. Let us know if you ever head to New Zealand, we’d love to see you.
Love James & Ali”
Thanks guys!!! Here are some of my favourites from the day:
Oh and yes, if you’re wondering, Murray Hockridge (from the BBC show – ‘The Voice’) did sing throughout the day – including the first dance song!
Some super sharp champagne cork skills from James (oh and an almighty cake!)
