Parley Manor | Parley Green | Christchurch

One of the most common questions I am asked by couples is “have you photographed our venue before?”.  It’s one of the many “questions to ask your photographer” listed in magazines and online brochures, so I suppose that’s why!  Anyway – I always respond by explaining:

As a documentary wedding photographer, I won’t need prior experience/knowledge of the venue as I will shoot on the day according to the conditions (lighting/backdrop etc) and as I will concentrate on the action and the people – I can’t (and shouldn’t) control where or when they will be or what they will be doing.  Therefore it really doesn’t matter!  In fact it is an opportunity for me to be creative and I always enjoy the unknown!

Anyway, on to today’s wedding post!  A new venue for me, Parley Manor, in Christchurch (a place a remember holidaying once as a child – Christchurch that is, not Parley Manor… Happy memories!)

Jen & James had a fantastic wedding day and Sabi, my second shooter for the day, and I really enjoyed capturing it – shortly after receiving their photos the sent me this:

“We just wanted to say an absolutely huge thank you for our wedding photos. They are amazing and everything we could have hoped for. You and Sabi really have captured the moments from the day. So far we’ve had some great feedback from friends and family who are really impressed.”

And, after receiving their album:

“Hi Ed,

We absolutely love the albums – they are just perfect and we can’t wait to give the parent albums to our parents. They will love them too!

I guess that this will be the end of our correspondence with you, which is quite sad as it now means that our wedding is completely over! But we have some amazing photos and amazing memories to cherish, and we have you and Sabi to thank for that. Thank you for everything you have done. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you.

Take care and all the very best for the future.

Hopefully we will see you again at someone else’s wedding in the future!

Jen and James”
